A170 Sutton Bank: Notoriously steep Yorkshire road closed as lorry 'gets stuck across both lanes'
The A170 at Sutton Bank in the North York Moors is closed after a lorry crashed and skewed across both lanes of the notorious ascent.
North Yorkshire Police said on Saturday afternoon: “The A170 at the bottom of Sutton Bank near Thirsk is currently closed after a lorry has become stuck across both carriageways. The road is expected to remain closed for several hours. Motorists are asked to please avoid the area and use alternative routes.”
The lorry was carrying potatoes and its load will be removed before it can be recovered.
