Former Sheffield United and Aston Villa man bombed from Cardiff City squad over disciplinary matter

Former Sheffield United forward Callum Robinson was left out of the Cardiff City squad earlier this week due to a disciplinary matter.

The Blades broke their transfer record to sign Robinson from Preston North End back in 2019, although he managed just 19 appearances for the club. He was loaned out in the January window of the his maiden campaign before departing permanently at the end of it.

Robinson now plies his trade for Cardiff and has featured regularly for the Bluebirds when fit this season. However, he was not named on the bench for Cardiff’s clash with Birmingham City on Wednesday (April 10).

Speaking after the 1-0 win over the Blues, Cardiff boss Erol Bulut revealed Robinson and defender Mahlon Romeo were absent due to a disciplinary matter.

He said: "I said at the start of the season, discipline and respect is the most important thing for me. They were a little bit away from that."

Although Romeo will be back in Cardiff’s squad this weekend, Bulut did not confirm Robinson would be making a return. Bulut said: “For Robbo we will have a discussion. I will also have a talk with Mahlon but he will be back."

Cardiff currently sit 11th in the Championship table, nine points adrift of the play-offs with four games left to play.
