Leeds United and Wolves 'eyeing' move for ex-Sheffield United man set to become free agent

Leeds United and Wolves are reportedly eyeing a summer swoop for former Sheffield United forward Che Adams.

The 27-year-old appears set to become a free agent, with his Southampton contract up in the summer. He has scored 12 goals in 34 league appearances for the Saints this season but has been in and out of the starting XI.

Leeds targeted Adams in January 2020, when the Whites were pushing for promotion to the Premier League under Marcelo Bielsa. However, they were unable to strike a deal and Adams remained a Southampton player.

He has remained with the Saints ever since, although speculation has started to circulate as the end of his contract draws closer. Wolves have been credited with interest and according to TEAMtalk, Leeds are also interested.

Clubs in England and overseas are said to have been alerted over his potential availability as a free agent. Leeds reportedly want to bolster their attacking options and see Adams as someone who could prove to be a valuable addition.

He is said to be viewed as a player who could prove valuable regardless of Leeds’ fate in the Championship promotion race.

Leeds are not particularly well-stocked when it comes to out-and-out strikers and there have been question marks regarding the consistency of Patrick Bamford and Joel Piroe. However, the emergence of Mateo Joseph has offered reason for excitement.
