The Tilt Works: New development set to take name inspired by Sheffield's industrial past

Grainger plc, has revealed its second residential development located in Sheffield will be named, The Tilt Works, in celebration of the city’s rich history with steel production.

Located on Well Meadow, The Tilt Works takes its name from the early process of steelmaking – ‘tilting’ which revolutionised the steel industry.

The scheme is due for completion in Summer 2023, and will provide 284 new modern rental homes in the city, comprising a mix of studios, one bedroom and two-bedroom apartments.

Leesa Ingham, head of marketing at Grainger said: “When deciding on the name of any new Grainger development, great time and care is spent researching the history of the site and local area to inspire our selection.

“The Tilt Works was our favoured choice due to the city’s strong links to the steel industry, with Sheffield once the steelmaking capital of the world.

The launch of The Tilt Works follows the success of Grainger’s first build-to-rent development in Sheffield, Brook Place, located on Summerfield Street.
