Yorkshire shop banned from selling food due to rodent infestation

A shop in Yorkshire has been banned from selling food after inspectors found rodents in the store.

An “active rodent infestation” was found by Calderdale Council workers at the Afzal Food Store in Halifax.

The shop, on Battinson Road, can no longer sell food after the council was granted an emergency hygiene order.

Emergency hygiene orders may be granted if there is a risk to health.

The case was heard at Bradford Magistrates Court on December 1 and in accordance with the Food Safety Act 1990.
