Art by Ashley Jackson and Steph McGovern's dad Eamonn to be auctioned to support Leeds charity Heart Research UK

Watercolourist Ashley Jackson is among artists creating work anonymously to be auctioned off to support Leeds-based charity Heart Research UK.

Now entering its fifth year, the ‘anonymous heART’ project has already raised more than £200,000 for the charity’s research and this time, bidders can get their hands on work by street artist Bambi, Leeds-based graphic designer AndAtWhatCost, tattoo artist James Butler and Holmfirth-based Ashley Jackson.

Also available to bid on will be a sketch by Steph McGovern’s dad, Eamonn McGovern, of Steph’s first Irish dancing shoes.

The art, produced on A5 postcards, will be auctioned from November 4 to 13. Though the list of artists will be available to all bidders, the artist of each individual piece will be kept anonymous, only being revealed once the auction is over.

Ashley Jackson said: “When I paint the Yorkshire landscape in watercolour, I cannot do so without feeling a 'wow', that extra emotion that comes from seeing and feeling. What you capture with your brush on paper is part of you, you could say it is genuinely art from the heart.

"We might not be surgeons or scientists, but hopefully our art will convey the message that we can all still play a part; raising awareness and funds to ensure that more people are reached by the support of Health Research UK.”
