A long plod devised by ex-policeman
Mr Brown, a former inspector with West Yorkshire Police, has written a step-by-step guidebook, The White Rose Way.
It starts in City Square, Leeds and takes in Harewood House, Linton, Wetherby, Tadcaster, Fulford, Stamford Bridge, Malton and Thornton-le-Dale, among other sights. The route links sections of existing trails with little used public footpaths.

The book contains points of interest and local history and is supported by a website containing an accommodation guide. The Mayor of Scarborough, John Blackburn, will perform an unveiling ceremony of the finish line plaque at the Harbourside Tourist Information Centre in the North Yorkshire resort at 2pm on April 14.
This will be followed by a book signing session by the author. The book costs £7.99 and can be ordered at www.whiteroseway.co.uk
