Bradford attacker knocks elderly victim's head against kerb

A would-be robber threw a pensioner to the ground but was disturbed by a passerby as he tried to prise a handbag from his victim's grasp.

The 78-year-old woman was grabbed from behind and thrown onto the floor as she walked home on Henderson Place.

Her attacker, a white man of around 5ft 10ins tall, then knocked her head against the kerb to try and make her let go of her handbag.

But the man, who was wearing a grey hooded tracksuit with black stripes down the leg and had short brown hair, fled empty-handed towards Wyke Lane when he a passerby intervened.

The attack occurred on Saturday at around 1.15pm.
