Humberside appoints first woman police chief

HUMBERSIDE’S first female police chief constable has been appointed by a unanimous vote.

Chief Constable of Tayside Police in Scotland Justine Curran was on a shortlist of three interviewed by a five-strong panel yesterday, chaired by new police commissioner Matthew Grove.

Her appointment still has to be confirmed at a meeting of the police and crime panel on February 15.

She will replace outgoing chief constable Tim Hollis who will retire in March.
