Man dies after crashing into tree at Sherriff Hutton as police launch investigation for witnesses

A man has died after crashing into a tree in a Yorkshire village.

North Yorkshire Police is investigating the fatal single-vehicle collision which happened at Sheriff Hutton in Ryedale.

The grey Nissan Qashqai crashed into the tree, on Daskett Hill, on Saturday, April 8 at 9.50am.

It had travelled from Beadlam, through Terrington, and towards Sheriff Hutton.

The driver, a 93-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

His family have been informed.

Officers are appealing for motorists in the area at the time to come forward.
