Information defences: Cyber-security apparatus to receive over £500m
Following the publication of a National Security Strategy earlier this week, which concluded attacks on the nation's computer network are now one of the most serious dangers that Britain faces, David Cameron yesterday announced the creation of a new body to organise and develop defences against cyber-warfare from criminals, rogue hackers, terrorists or hostile states.
The new UK Defence Cyber Operations Group will employ experts to ensure vital networks such as the National Grid are properly secured.
A wide-ranging National Cyber Security Programme will also be launched.
