Mother's thanks after garage birth

A YOUNG mother who gave birth to a baby boy at a petrol station said thanks yesterday to staff who came to her aid.

Jennifer Hunt, 21, and her boyfriend pulled into the service station when she started going into labour.

Her boyfriend called an ambulance on his mobile phone before dashing into the 24-hour shop at a Total service station in Hindhead, Surrey, to summon help. Sales assistant Vakeesan Jeyaratnam helped Miss Hunt into the store and closed the site as an ambulance made its way to them at around 5am last Thursday.

Miss Hunt said: "It all happened somewhere between the biscuits and the anti-freeze.

"I want to say an extra special thankyou to the Total assistant who was brilliant. He couldn't have done more to make what was a very stressful occasion easier."

Matt Willcocks, Total's marketing manager, said: "Our team are always happy to go the extra mile for our customers.
