If our MPs are racists or bullies, sack them – Yorkshire Post Letters

OUR 650 elected MPs, who are supposed to be ‘‘pillars in our society’’, and who represent hundreds of thousands of constituents, are now being told to attend anti-racist and bullying training.

The cost to the taxpayer for a facilitator to do this training is another example of waste of money by this Government, as this cost should not be necessary.

If an MP is found to be guilty of bullying or anti-racist behaviour they should be disciplined by the Parliamentary Standards Authority and sacked like in other professions, rather than be given a second or third chance.

Some MPs clearly think that by working in the Palace of Westminster or Houses of Parliament that they are exempt from what their voters would have to go through if they were in an similar or identical situation.

NICOLA Sturgeon is up to her old tricks again. Diverging from Westminster by not allowing those returning from Greece to enter Scotland without quarantine, she is making another play for Scottish independence.

I have to admit she is a better communicator that any of our Cabinet with the exception of Rushi Sunak. Perhaps this is why there is a rise in her popularity.

Surely Boris Johnson and his advisors can see this and take steps to remedy the situation?
In politics, perception is everything.

From: Henry Cobden, Ilkley.

WHAT is the point of Prime Minister’s Questions when Boris Johnson is only courteous towards backbenchers from his own side and ignores contributions from Labour and SNP leaders and MPs?

His antics this week were nothing short of disgrace (The Yorkshire Post, September 3) and Sir Lindsay Hoyle would have been advised to suspend the session to make a point.

A penny for the thoughts of Thirsk and Malton MP Kevin Hollinrake who did ask a question – and receive an answer – during this spectacle. He must surely have been ashamed to be associated with such a charade.

From: Thomas Reed, Harrogate.

GIVEN it was obvious that Boris Johnson would be asked at PMQs when he knew about the exam algorithm that caused so much misery, what does it say about the calibre of his aides that he did not have a satisfactory answer to this obvious and pressing question?
