Len Goodman's warmth and kindness at heart of Strictly's success: The Yorkshire Post says

Len Goodman’s headteacher famously predicted he would be a failure in life but the glowing tributes which have poured in for the former Strictly Come Dancing head judge following his death at the age of 78 underline exactly how wrong that assessment was.

Goodman’s own dancing career began when he was 19 but he became a much-loved household name in recent decades for his role on Strictly.

He helped make the show a huge success with his honest but encouraging and frequently humorous critiques. His obvious warmth and kindness was a big driver of the show’s success, particularly at a time when so much competing reality shows were based more on cruel putdowns.

As he reflected on his career in 2019, Goodman said: “My initials are LG, and that spells ‘life’s good’ – and it really is.” As attitudes and achievements go, it has to be a ‘ten for Len’.
