Now we are all unpaid binmen
I WOULD like to compliment Jayne Dowle on her recent article on recycling. She is the 100 per cent voice of common sense.
She’s so right, the PC brigade expect us to be unpaid binmen by delivering heavy bins from the back of our houses to the front, which is difficult if, like me, you are disabled.

Hide AdI cannot remember what bins are which and often the binmen leave it anyway. We used to have a weekly collection for general rubbish, now here it is fortnightly.
It says on the council letter headings, “Working for You” – well, I think it is the other way round.
Finally, and of paramount importance, because I’ve worked in the pubic service for many years myself, it means money from the government to the council – they say “landfill”, I say targets, figures, money.

I USUSALLY read Jayne Dowle’s columns with pleasure but not this week.

Hide AdHer criticsm of Louise Mensch MP (Yorkshire Post, August 13) came across as a piece of cattiness.
Louse Mensch gave it a try and until one tries something, one cannot possibly know what the commitment is or how it will affect the family.
She made a difficult decison, no doubt after much thought, and is to be complimented for at least giving politics a whirl.
