Why Labour should shelve ageist fluff like House of Lords reform - Yorkshire Post Letters

From: Barry Tighe, Matson Court, Woodford Green.

Labour, haven't you got more important things to do? One of the hallmarks of the current Conservative regime has been its unforced errors, latest being the D-Day debacle and their MP betting on the election date. Thank heavens the incoming Labour government, despite being boring for England, is at least competent. So it's dispiriting to see Labour's first unforced error before they even start; removing the franchise for 80-year-olds in the Lords. Don't we have more urgent problems?

Conservatives love the old - triple lock pensions - and hate the young - no houses so join the army.Labour loves the young - votes for 16-year-olds and subsidised mortgages - and hate the old - like the US President you're senile at 80.

Come on Labour, drop the distracting ageist fluff and get your act together.
