Scarborough centre sealed off in bomb scare
The item was destroyed around lunchtime by a controlled explosion.
Earlier an army bomb disposal robot was sent in and a 100m cordon put in place around the device.

Hide AdStores in the High Street all the way up to Aberdeen Walk have been closed and may remain so for the rest of the day.
A Police spokesman said: “The Army’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal team has assessed the suspicious item and carried out a controlled explosion at about 12.15pm as a precaution. They are now assessing the item.
“The 100m cordon will remain in place for the time being while police enquiries continue.
“Every effort is being made to return to return to normality. We thank the public and local businesses for their patience and understanding during the disruption.”
