Telecoms giant to double intake of apprentices
Around 24,000 people registered an interest in 221 positions earlier this year compared with 9,000 applications last year.
BT said it had decided to double the number of places as a result of the response and because it wanted to train young people to help deliver fibre optic broadband over the next few years.

Hide AdThe second wave of recruitment will see BT's Openreach division recruit more than 200 further people by Christmas, the firm announced, as it marked the 50th anniversary of its apprenticeship scheme.
The new wave of apprentices will be focused on helping BT with its multi-million-pound fibre optic broadband roll-out.
