Hide AdCharity chief executive Norman Armstrong-Kersh said a piece of land was granted by the service area operator for a memorial woodland. Five trees will be planted on Sunday.
The memorial is dedicated to the four Royal Corps of the Army Medical Services.
Mr Armstrong-Kersh described members of these corps as “unsung heroes” who deserved greater recognition, and added: “I wanted something that would give formal recognition of this while also giving the opportunity to raise charitable funds for both the civilian and military communities across the UK.”
Captain Eddy Hardaker from the Reserve 207 (Manchester) Field Hospital said the wooded area would allow people to pause for thought. Life for a Life trees can be purchased for £495, with funds going to local causes.
A new memorial to the IRA bombing victims was unveiled at Hartshead Moor in 2009.
