Yorkshire MP cleared over home claims

A SOUTH Yorkshire MP has been saved from having to repay more than £6,000 in expenses after submitting missing mortgage statements.

Rotherham MP Denis MacShane has satisfied former High court judge Sir Paul Kennedy the claims were legitimate after being told he had to produce the statements by next month.

Mr MacShane, who has already repaid 1,354 claimed for cleaning, was also told he had under-claimed by 201 on mortgage claims over five years.
