HUDDERSFIELD TOWN'S new signing Aaron Mooy says that the ambition of chairman Dean Hoyle and head coach David Wagner convinced him to make the plunge - and join the club on a season-long loan from Manchester City.

Mooy has become the latest addition to Town’s squad, with the Australian international representing the ninth player that the club have brought in during a busy summer so far.

The 25-year-old only signed for City from Aussie side Melbourne City on June 30 on a three-year-deal, having made a big impact in his two years in Victoria.

He won the player-of-the-year award in two seasons there, while amassing a record 21 assists in the A-league last term.

But he has now immediately been loaned out to the Championship.

On signing for Town, Mooy, who began his career at Bolton Wanderers and had a spell at Scottish club St Mirren before returning to Australia with Western Sydney, said: “I had a meeting with the manager and the chairman.

“The manager - he did a very good job of persuading me, because the way he wants to play, I think I will fit into that and that is why I am here.

“He is a great man and a positive guy, what I’ve seen so far.

“I like to play on the ground and play nice football, so that is part of the reason why I wanted to come to Huddersfield, and David is in charge of implementing that style.”

Previous arrivals already this summer at Town are £1.8m club record signing Chris Schindler and fellow Germans Chris Low, Michael Hefele and Elias Kachunga - alongside Dutch winger Rajiv van La Parra, Croatian midfielder Ivan Paurevic, playmaker Jack Payne and goalkeeper Joel Coleman.
