Crystal Palace 'watching' Leeds United academy product 'admired' by Sheffield United and Wolves

Crystal Palace are reportedly eyeing Sunderland’s Leeds United academy product Jack Clarke, while Sheffield United are said to be admirers.

The 23-year-old left Elland Road in 2019, joining Tottenham Hotspur for a reported £10m. His time in the capital did not work out, nor did loan stints at Leeds, Queens Park Rangers and Stoke City.

However, since 2022, he has laid down roots at Sunderland and thrived in the Championship. Last term, he shone in a difficult campaign for the Black Cats and notched 15 goals in 40 league appearances.

According to HITC, Palace are watching Clarke as a potential replacement for the seemingly outgoing Michael Olise. Palace’s talismanic winger is reportedly Bayern Munich-bound after a stellar season at Selhurst Park.

However, Palace are not the only club reported to have an eye on Clarke. Sheffield United have been described as admirers, although their Championship status may prove to be a hindrance if they do try an audacious swoop.

There is also thought to be more Premier League interest, with Wolverhampton Wanderers, Brentford and Burnley also linked with the tricky wideman. In recent weeks, he has also been linked with the likes of West Ham United and Southampton.

Sunderland recently unveiled a new head coach, appointing Régis Le Bris to succeed Michael Beale. The former Lorient boss has taken the reins after Mike Dodds ended the 2023/24 season in temporary charge of first-team affairs.
