Former Leeds United, Huddersfield Town and Sheffield Wednesday man 'set' for Leicester City move

Leeds United cult hero Andrew Hughes has reportedly left Norwich City to take up a coaching role at Leicester City.

The 46-year-old was a firm favourite among the Elland Road faithful in his playing days and helped the club seal promotion from League One in 2010. Since hanging up his boots, he has ventured into coaching and held a number of roles across the pyramid.

He assisted David Wagner at Huddersfield Town, later reuniting with the German at Norwich. The former midfielder has also worked for Rotherham United and Sheffield United, and was part of Garry Monk’s team at Sheffield Wednesday.

He now appears set for a fresh challenge in the Premier League, with BBC Sport’s Nick Mashiter claiming he is expected to join Leicester. The Foxes recently hired Steve Cooper as their new head coach following Chelsea’s swoop for Enzo Maresca.

Hughes has reportedly been approached about becoming part of Cooper’s coaching team as Leicester look to consolidate back in the top flight. A move to the King Power Stadium would bring an end to Hughes’ three-year stay at Carrow Road.

He initially joined the Canaries in 2021 to oversee loans and player pathway development. When Dean Smith was replaced by Wagner, Hughes stepped up to take on a coaching role alongside his former Huddersfield colleague.
