Neil Aspin insists the recent league meeting between FC Halifax Town and Dartford will have no bearing on today’s third-round FA Trophy tie.

The Shaymen make the long trek south looking to repeat their success of 11 days ago, when, despite being reduced to nine men, the Yorkshire club ran out 2-1 winners.

Dartford are struggling in the Conference, whereas Halifax are handily placed just behind the play-off pack and with games in hand.

Despite that, Aspin insists anything less than a committed performance could spell trouble for his side.

He said: “I don’t think any two games are the same. The fact that it is a cup competition as well is different.

“They have been struggling in the league, but obviously in the Trophy they have won a couple of rounds so they can go into this game without as much pressure on them.

“They are fighting for survival in the league, but they might be a bit different in the Trophy.”

North Ferriby United are also in Trophy action today, at Farnborough, looking to book a place in the last eight.
