CONFUSION over the identity of Yorkshire’s leading football club has continued with the release of its latest merchandise.

On sale in the club shop are new T-shirts with the name “Hull City Tigers” emblazoned on the front, but the inside label reads Hull City AFC, the name which has stood since 1904 that fans are campaigning to save.

Owner Assem Allam has said he would prefer “Hull Tigers”.

Fans opposed to the change also poked fun at the grammar on the T-shirt’s strapline, which reads “Yorkshire No. 1”.

Andy Medcalf, a member of the City Till We Die campaign, said: “When I first saw it I just laughed because it looked so crass and there’s the obvious grammatical error. I hope I don’t get one for Christmas.”
