Sheffield United, Hull City, Middlesbrough FC & Barnsley FC announce fixture changes to their Christmas and New Year schedule

SHEFFIELD UNITED, Hull City, Middlesbrough and Barnsley have become the latest Yorkshire clubs to announce alterations to their fixture schedules over the Christmas and New Year period.

Championship high-fliers United will now see their final Championship away game of 2022 and first one of 2023 screened on Sky Sports.

Their scheduled match at Blackpool on Thursday, December 29 will now kick off at the slightly later time of 8.15pm, not the scheduled 7.45pm to accomodate TV requirements.

The Blades' trip to QPR, originally scheduled to take place on Sunday, January 1, has now been put back to Monday, January 2 with an 8pm.

United's pre-Christmas trip to Wigan Athletic had previously been selected for Sky Sports coverage. The game will be played Monday, December 19, kicking off at 8pm.

Meanwhile, Hull's two away fixtures over the festive period have been pushed back 24 hours.Due to Birmingham City’s Boxing Day match against Burnley being moved for Sky Sports coverage, the Tigers will now travel to St Andrew’s on Friday, December 30, kick-off 7:45pm.

Consequently, City's first match of 2023 against Wigan at the DW Stadium will now take place on Monday, January 2 at 3pm.Boro's scheduled New Year's Day trip to Birmingham has been put back 24 hours to January 2, also with a 3pm kick-off.Meanwhile in League One, Barnsley will also not be in action on New Year's Day, with their scheduled game at home to Bolton Wanderers being pushed back to January 2 (also 3pm).This is due to Bolton's scheduled Boxing Day fixture against Derby County being moved for TV coverage.
