BINGLEY St Ives' Andy Town and Terry Brushwood laid claim to the title of Yorkshire 2018 foursomes champions at Moortown.

The 36-hole final, refereed by John Shaw, was played at a good pace despite the dreadfully wet morning weather as Town and Brushwood took on Beverley & East Riding’s Neil Burnley and Richard Norton.

Two competitive pairs were only separated by a couple of holes at lunchtime, Town and Brushwood holding the upper hand.

The weather improved slightly in the afternoon and in front of a small contingent of mostly ‘West Riding’ support Town and Brushwood moved out of reach and won 4&3.

Yorkshire Union of Golf Clubs’ president Eric Wainwright presented the trophy with Moortown captain Malcolm Slinger in attendance.
